Job Description:

Under the supervision of the SVP/COO, and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas, the Safety and Risk Management Director promotes and advances an overall culture of safety and encourages early detection of potential risks. This position administers risk management and loss prevention programs while ensuring legal compliance. This position leads the Risk Management Cabinet, to address risk management as an Association-wide endeavor that includes not only matters of insurance and physical safety but also of protecting the goodwill necessary to deliver the YMCA mission.Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• YUSA Multi-Team Leader Certification (or equivalent) required within two years and must begin working towards certification within 6 months.
• A minimum of three-year's experience in safety/risk management, recreational programming, or related field is required. Knowledge of YMCA programs preferred.
• Knowledge of safety/risk related local, state and federal regulations is required.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software.
• Must possess excellent organizational skills, writing and verbal skills and the ability to manage multiple projects successfully.
• Must possess human relations skills that maintain a level of credibility and authority in advisory relationships with staff.
• Prior experience in developing and delivering training.
• Maintain confidential and sensitive information and materials in a professional and private manner.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire. Must attain American Red Cross instructor certification within 12 months and maintain certification.
• Complete and maintain required trainings to include but not limited to: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment upon hire and annually thereafter.
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.
